Art Bead Scene Challenge for June

Above photo of my beading in progress.

My entry for this month's Art Bead Scene Challenge is a free form peyote stitch necklace featuring my handmade ceramic beads. The copper swirl beads that hang from the center and sides are wire wrapped with my own torched copper ball end pins. The central beaded flowers are ringed in tiny Tangerine beads. These colors are all muted expressions of the bright colors in our inspiration piece, Farbstudie Quadrate by Wassilly Kandinsky.

  2. MARY!! I love, love, love this....I just love that freeform style! I entered the "Use The Muse II" challenge, so I think I'm going to try the freeform style with some beading. I ordered your instructions a few weeks ago so I thought I'd try it out! I really admire your work, it's awesome! BTW, the raku beads I bought from you are KILLER, my favorite, and I don't see a lot of them around....I wish you made them in every color!! They rock!
I only used one in a necklace so far, I'm hoarding them!! Here's the link

  3. Such a beautiful necklace. I never quite got the hang of freeform...I'm much too anal to be good at it. I especially like the muted colors you used.

  5. Hi Sharon, I love hearing about your interest in free form and am so glad you like the raku beads. I have made them in red and some copper type green and white. I tried to follow your link but it didn't work for me. I think I found your blog Live Wire Jewelry which is full of beautiful work but I didn't see the piece. I would love to see it.

  6. Hi Roseanne, thank you for such nice words. Actually, I can't do what you do because I am not anal enough. I find counting and measuring etc. very hard. I think I was born off balance and am so glad I have found a creative outlet for it.
